1980
It Started as Plowmans
The dealership that would become Jay Malone Motors first opened its doors in Hutchinson, MN in 1980 under the name Plowmans. From the beginning, it was built around the idea that a car dealership should be part of the community — not just a place to buy a vehicle.
Later Years
Hutchinson Auto Center
The dealership became Hutchinson Auto Center, growing its footprint and its reputation with families across McLeod County.
2005
Jay Malone Takes the Wheel
In 2005, Jay Malone took ownership of the dealership and brought a new vision with him: treat every customer like a neighbor, stand behind every vehicle, and build something the community could be proud of for generations.
Growth Years
Two Franchises, One Family
Under Jay’s leadership, the dealership grew to operate both Jay Malone Ford and Jay Malone Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram at one location on Highway 7 West — so central Minnesota drivers can cross-shop Ford, Ram, Jeep, Dodge and Chrysler side by side. Two franchises, one service department, one body shop, one family.

Jay Malone — Founder & Owner
Jay took over the dealership in 2005 with a clear vision: build a dealership Hutchinson could trust for life. That vision shows up in every sale, every service visit, and every community event Jay Malone Motors is part of.
In 2021, the Hutchinson Area Chamber of Commerce named Jay its Business Person of the Year — recognition of both the dealership’s success and its investment in the community.

Jake & Jordan Malone — The Next Generation
Jay’s children, Jake and Jordan, grew up in this dealership and bring the same family values that built it. Jake is our General Manager, leading the sales department and overseeing operations across both franchises. Jordan is our Assistant General Manager, handling day-to-day operations and marketing while carrying on the community-first mission their father started.
Together, they represent where Jay Malone Motors is headed — a dealership built to serve this community for generations to come.
Jordan Malone-Forst — 2025 Young Leader of the Year
In 2025, the Hutchinson Jaycees named Jordan their Young Leader of the Year for her impact at the dealership and across the community. Jordan is a past president of the Hutchinson Ambassadors and serves on the Board of Directors for the Hutchinson Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism.
